Some Recent Events

A few things have been happening around here lately. Dall's dad Dave came into town from Idaho a few weeks ago to meet his new new Grandson. He fell in love instantly! We named Gabe after him so this was an exciting meeting. I can see a lot of Gabe in Dallas and Dave. Three generations, how precious!!

A few Saturdays ago, my best friend Ali came home for a visit. She is pregnant and due in April and I am so excited for her!!! We decided that the girls needed to get together for a breakfast while she was here. Kristen made us delicious sausage and egg casserole, it was soooo good. Kristen's baby girl Olivia is about one week older than Gabe and she is a doll. We have decided that we are going to set them up when they get older. He he. I love those girls!

I have also been in the mood to craft. I have had quite a bit of spare time on my hands so I got right to work on Gabe's block letters for his future nursery and my mom was gracious enough to help me make his car seat cover. I LOVE the fabric I picked out for it. For my next project, I think I will go buy a cute shelf at Wood Connection and paint it for his room... oh I love to craft!

Our Baby Story...

So... My due date was October 10th, clearly I didn't make it til then. Yes, I felt like I could have had him in August because I was so big and uncomfortable. So on Sunday, September 27th, the fam and I took a nice stroll up big Cottonwood Canyon at Silver Lake. We walked around the whole thing and my the time we were done, I felt like I had walked for a day straight. We were walking back to the car when I felt something.... I believe it was Gabe dropping. It felt like I had to pee my pants and I could BREATHE again!! It also gave me the sensation like I was carrying a bowling ball in between my legs. My sister April caught a picture if me in that moment. I was smiling because I thought my water had broken... not yet! We were all joking around that our little walk will induce my labor, clearly thinking that it wouldn't because I wasnt due for another 2 weeks. Well, that night I was getting in bed around 10:45. Dall was up on the computer doing Fantasy Football stuff. It was 11:30 now and I was going through my "list of things I had to get done tomorrow" in my head when all of the sudden I feel my water break! It was so crazy! I started yelling for Dallas and when I told him my water broke, he didnt believe me... well that only lasted until he saw my water trail leading into the bathroom.. ha ha, sorry tmi! Since we are living with my parents, my mom and sister rush downstairs to see what was going on. We all were getting my things together because I was kinda freaking out. It was so surreal. I wanted to get to the hospital before my contractions started to get bad. They were not bad by this point, just some cramping. So my mom and Allie follow me and Dall to the hospital and my dad just wanted us to keep him posted. Well the car ride was were the contractions started to get bad. Its a good thing I pain attention in my third trimester class. The breathing tactics helped a ton. We get to the hospital and the nurse hooked me up to monitors and checked me to see my progression. I was dilated to a 3 and was about 95% effaced. I had Strep B so they had to get the IV in so they could give me Penicillin. I had to be on it for 5 hours before they would start me. The contractions at this point were getting really bad and I really felt them in my back. I think that was the worst.. I hate back pain. For me it was worse than the actual contraction. So we made our lovely call to the anesthesiologist. It only took him a few minutes to get to my room, which was so great for me. I wasnt sure what it was going to be like since it was like 2:30am. Once I got the epidural, it was smooth sailing!! Oh goodness, I swear by the miracle of an epidural. I was able to relax and just enjoy everything. So the waiting game began. We knew nothing would be happening til about 5:00 because they had to give me another dose of penicillin. So we all tried to get some sleep. My mom and dallas' mom were there and so was Allie, my sister. During one of the checks, Gabe's heart rate went way down and it scared me so bad. The nurse was a little worried too. His heart rate would also drop when I would lay on my left side. Who knows why. So the Dr. got there around 7:00am, he talked to me for a little bit then checked me. Then he said that we are ready to push! So Dall stepped up to the plate and participated in the whole delivery, which I thought was a miracle in itself. He was awesome! It was kind of all a blur but I guess I only pushed for 10 or 15 minutes. A total of only 5 big pushes and our baby Gabe was here! They put him on my chest and the sound of his first cry was so amazing. I could not believe that he was ours! The spirit was so strong when our little guy arrived. The last day we were in the hospital, he had jaundice so he had to go under the bili lights and stay in there over night. That was so hard to not hold him and cuddle him whenever I wanted. They only brought him to me when it was time to feed him, then I had to give him right back! We also had to take the bili bed home and put him on that his first night home too, which was even harder. I hated hearing him cry and not do anything about it. I dont want to have to do that again. But he is doing great now and Mommy and Daddy are enjoying every hour of sleep lost because we love him so much! He is truly a miracle and we are so grateful for him. Now that he is here, I cant believe that we lived this long without him! Oh I am SO in love with him. So thats it, thats Gabes story. Sorry for the novel, if you actually took the time to read it.

Getting Quite Nervous...

Ok so there wont be any picture this post. The computer I am on is not allowing me upload any... so pictures will be coming shortly. Onto another note, I am a little over 35 weeks and boy am I getting nervous. See, I am the type of person that gets so scared of the unknown. For instance, I was terrified before I had to get my blood drawn for the first time. That terror quickly passed when I realized I was making way too big of a deal of it all. The same thing goes for about anything I do. Like right before I get up and sing in front of a crowd, or give a talk anywhere, or say a prayer in front of a large group of people, or go on a roller coaster, or even when I am in the waiting room for my normal Dr. appointments. I just get really scared until it is all over. Well I am getting really nervous for the labor and delivery. I am not a woos, I know I can handle pain up to a certain point.... that point will be when I get the lovely epidural. I am willing to do whatever it takes to get this baby boy here safely. It all is just a little overwhelming at times ya know?? I am sure I am making this all a bigger deal than it will be, but there is just so many things that could go wrong. I want the baby to be safe and healthy for the most part, and I want to be a good mommy for him. I have had such wonderful examples in my life of wonderful mothers and I hope I have learned something from all of them. Dallas is a little nervous too, as all first time dads are. His biggest issues are wanting his son to get here safely and not having to change poopy diapers. All I am trying to say here is that it is getting close for us to have this baby!!!!! Time has flown and here we are, stressing about getting the "bags" packed for our hospital stay. Am I scared..... YES, a little overwhelmed with all sorts of emotions... YES, ready to meet our little guy that we are SOOOOOO in LOVE with..... YES!!!! I could not be more scared/ excited for anything in my life! So, for any of you that have positive comments for how I am feeling, lay them on me. It might just calm me down a bit.

The Latest with US...

Well I know it has been quite a while since I UPDATED. I am very bad at this blogging stuff, especially while I am pregnant. The only reason why I am even on the internet these days is to look for Baby Bedding, cribs and strollers... Amongst many other baby things. I have finally narrowed it down to 4 bedding sets (which is good for me) and of course the one that I like the most is the most expensive. I need to know what people actually spend on crib bedding these days. So many decisions!! So memorial day, Dallas and I went up to Idaho Falls to see Dall`s family. It was a trip that was LONG overdue! We stayed at his Dads house and watched lots of movies with him, since that is what Dave Todd, Dall`s Dad, likes to do best! We had a BBQ the night we got up there with Dall`s sister Ashley and her Boyfriend. It was a lot of fun. Then we HAD to make smores over their fire pit! DELICIOUS!! The next day, we did a little shopping and sight seeing around Idaho Falls. We went to the Falls and saw the Temple. It was such an awesome view. Then after we ate at a really good Bar & Grill that over looked the falls. The weather was perfect so we spent most our time outside. Then on our final day, we went to visit Dawn and Kanyon, Dalls step mom and Dalls nephew... who is by far the cutest boy I have EVER SEEN!!! I could steal him and not feel bad about it!! He looks just like his daddy Matt (Dall`s brother) which gets me excited because there is a chance our little guy will look somewhat like Kanyon! Anyways, we ate a nice sunday dinner with all Dawn and all dalls siblings, minus Matt. It was delicious. It was really good to see Dall`s family. We need to do it so much more often!!

On another GREAT note... It is Mine and Dallas` 2nd Anniversary today! I cannot believe we have been married for 2 years. Oh so many things we have accomplished in that time! I`m looking outside and the weather is pretty much the same as it was on our wedding day, cloudy and a little chilly. It made for great wedding pictures though. We celebrated it yesterday by going baby shopping, a little shopping in there for us too might I add. Dallas surprised me with dinner at the restaurant Bambara, which is in Hotel Monico... where we spent our wedding night!!! He was thinking, wasnt he? The food was amazing!! Dall had scallops and I had Halibut. It was to die for... until I found out that I am not supposed to eat Halibut due to the high mercury levels in that particular fish. I googled if I was going to be in trouble, and it quickly reassured me!! Dall was a nervous wreck until we found out that having one 6 oz fillet is not going to do anything to me or the baby! Anywho, after dinner,we walked around Temple Square a bit because it`s my favorite place to go. We ran into a few Sister Missionaries who wanted to tell us about all sorts or church history. Then we went and saw the movie Land of the Lost. DONT recommend it! That`s all I have to say about that. It was a great Anniversary!!! Dall, I love you and I am so happy we are on this journey together!! I am the luckiest wife in the world!!!

And here is my 22 week Shot!!! I cannot believe how large my stomach is getting, and I`m only half way there!

We are having a .....

BOY!!!!!!!!! We had the ultrasound on Friday and we were so Shocked! Both of us really thought it was going to be a girl, especially Dall. We are So excited! Its so crazy how the moment you find out what you are having, it just seems so natural. My thought right after we found out was "Of course its a Boy!!!" Now onto the hard part... narrowing down a few names. I had four girl names picked out but not too sure on a boy name. So we have to do some big soul searching!! Any ideas on names, send them my way!

5.21.2009

I am so mad!!

So today was the day we were supposed to find out the gender of this baby... But when we got there, they told us that the ultrasound machine was broken! BLAH!!!! So we made another appointment for tomorrow at 1:3o. So... hopefully we will have better luck tomorrow.

NeW PoSt!!!

So I am finally posting!! It has been quite a while and I feel like I have come back from the dead. I didnt have a wonderful 1st trimester and I spent most of my time in bed. But I am feeling much better. So the latest fun thing we did was go to Antimony over the weekend to relax and spend time with family and Grandpa. A few of my siblings couldnt not go and they were missed grately. But we had a lot of fun. We went Rock Hunting with the kiddies and they LOVED it! They all filled buckets full of rocks to take home. Marni also put the boys in charge of gathering rocks for her yard. Dallas, Landon and Grandpa did it with smiles on their faces while Marni sat on a rock with Avery and deligated which rocks she wanted. We had a picnic up the canyon because it was such a warm day! Then on Sunday we drove to Gramdma's grave site and talked a while and Grandpa wanted all of us to walk back into town, which is about 2 miles of a walk. The kids loved it about half way into it, then they wanted to get carried all the way home because their legs hurt. I thought it was funny. My back was not liking me after that long walk. All in all it was a wonderful weekend! I needed to get down to Antimony. It was great spending time with my family, especially my Grandpa. I have been going down to Antimony with my family for about 13 years. There are many memories I have there and it is almost thereputic when I am there! I love it!!

And last is the first Belly picture. I took this when I was exactly 15 weeks. I know... I'm quite large in the belly for only 15 weeks. And this is why... when I went in for my 14 week Dr. appointment, he measured my from my belly button to my pelvic bone, which I'm sure all OB's do. Anywho, he measured me twice and looked at me funny. He said "Did you know that the space I just measured is extremely small? Probably the smallest space I have seen on a stomach." I didnt really know what he meant so I said "Is that a bad thing?" Then he said " No but you will show really early on in your pregnancy and you will cary the baby high and far out. You wont be very comfortable from week 28 to delivery." So.. that was a joyous thing to hear. It caught me by surprise because I always thought I had a really long torso. I guess I didnt know a thing!
